Egypt's Coptic Christian Church Chooses New Pope for Uncertain Times as Islamists Gain Power
The Coptic Christians in Egypt have experienced a dramatic increase
in persecution over the last two years. However, there seems to be a
ray of light in the darkness as a new pope was elected this week. Having
a symbol of authority may help the Christian cause in Egypt as the
Muslim Brotherhood attempts to pass a new constitution which would
eliminate all rights that religious minorities possess in Egypt.
Praise God that in times as uncertain as these, the Coptic Christians in Egypt came together to elect a new pope.
Pray for the
newly elected pope as he is immediately put to the test in trying to
find some way to make sure that Christians in Egypt are able to maintain
their rights.
Pray for those within the Egyptian government who are trying to strip away the rights of Christians and other religious minorities.

Parents Kill Teenager With Acid for 'Eyeing a Boy' in Pakistan
In one of the most horrific stories reported at ICC, parents of a
teenage girl murdered their daughter by throwing acid on her. The family
states that the girl dishonored the family by "eyeing a boy."
Honor killings are common in Pakistan and can be carried
out for almost any reason. Along with Pakistan’s blasphemy laws, honor
killings are another policy that needs to be changed.
Pray for the
parents who killed their teenage daughter, that God would reveal to them
the wrong they have done and they would repent.
Pray for the women of Pakistan as they are usually the targets of honor killings.
Pray for the
Pakistani government, that they would see the honor killings that take
place as a true crime and that steps would be taken to prevent this from
happening.

Pray for the families who have lost loved ones as a result of Boko Haram’s reign of terror.
Pray for the safety of Christians in Nigeria, as they are the prime target of Boko Haram.

Secret Police Suspected in Attack on Church Pastor in China
Throughout China it seems as if religious freedoms are being
violated. The latest example is the highway assault of a Christian
pastor by the Chinese secret police in plain clothes. In other words,
the Chinese secret police is basically conducting undercover operations
to persecute Christians.
Pray for this pastor and his family as he is recovering from his injuries.
Pray for the
Christians in China, who have to be on alert for police in plainclothes
attempting to stop them from conducting Christian services and
activities.
Pray for the Chinese government. That some Christian influence begins to take hold and all more freedoms for Christians.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel Calls Christianity the Most Persecuted Religion in the World
Amazingly, German Chancellor Angela Merkel openly stated that
Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world. Shortly after
making those comments, other religious groups voiced outrage over
Merkel’s comments. However, statisticly speaking, there is no doubt that
Christianity is the most persecuted religion.
Praise God that one of the world’s most recognizable leaders is bringing awareness to the plight of persecuted Christians.
Pray for Christians who are persecuted, as they may face backlash because of Chancellor Merkel’s comments.
Pray that other world leaders would follow Merkel’s example and voice the truth about Christian persecution.
