News and Prayer for the Persecuted Two Thousand Kessab Christians Find Safety In Latakia, Syria 3/26/2014 Syria (Armenian Weekly)    An estimated 2,000 Kessab Armenians are in Latakia receiving assistance from local Armenians, the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent. Kessab has been over-run by fighters, mostly from the extremist Nusra Front, where they have desecrated churches, pillaged houses, and destroyed government buildings, Syrian Armenian community activist Nerses Sarkissian told the Weekly. This includes the wife and three children of the ECWA Church pastor, Rev Likita Riku, whom were killed, and burned beyond recognition.The victims were buried in three mass graves after inter-denominational prayers last Sunday. The revised draft limits the time period for the OHCHR to conduct the investigations. She was freed only after signing an agreement to wear the veil from then on. "It is impossible for Christians to live with this armed opposition....leave this country, it's not ours anymore," she told Christians on Facebook. "Our Church has no legal status in the Russian Federation, so it's uncertain which laws will be applied if Crimea is annexed," Priest Mykhailo Milchakovskyi told CNS.
