Obama Officials Holding “Direct Meetings” with Terror Group Hamas

A Hamas leader claims the terrorist group
has had “direct meetings” with U.S. officials close to the White House
despite a longstanding American policy to have no contact with Hamas.
The claim
from Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad was reported in a Palestinian news
outlet. Top American representatives were in meetings Hamas had with
European ambassadors and officials about two weeks ago, he said.
The officials discussed removing Hamas from the list of designated terrorist organizations, but that “these contacts have not yet reached the level of decision-makers,” Hamad said in a Sky News Arabia report translated by the Investigative Project on Terrorism. The alleged meeting has not yet been reported in Western media.

A series of meetings with European
officials have been held in Gaza, Cairo and other countries, Ghazi
Hammad, Hamas deputy foreign minister, told reporters.
“These meetings which included U.S.
officials closed to the White House, were held away from the mass media
and aimed at removing Hamas from the list of terrorist organizations,”
Hammad said.
He added that “there are no legal or political justifications for keeping Hamas movement in that list.”
Meantime, Hammad said Hamas is also trying
to build up positive contacts with all political parties, not only the
Muslim Brotherhood Movement in Egypt.
The United States, Europe and Israel
classified the Hamas movement, which has ruled the Gaza Strip since June
2007, as a terrorist organization.
In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if John Kerry’s pick for a State Department advisory post is one of those meeting directly with the Islamic terror group Hamas:
An anti-Israel diplomat who was kicked off
the 2008 Obama campaign after he was caught negotiating with the terror
group Hamas is under consideration for a State Department advisory
post, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.
Robert Malley, a longtime government
insider who worked for former President Bill Clinton and advised
then-Sen. Barack Obama, is said to be on Kerry’s shortlist for deputy
assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern Affairs, according to reports and sources. He currently serves as the Middle East director of the International Crisis Group (ICG).
If tapped for the job, Malley would be in charge of the Israel-Palestinian peace process, according to Al Monitor.
Another source familiar with the issue told the Washington Free Beacon that Malley has quietly been confirming that the Al-Monitor report is accurate.
