Honor Diaries -- a new, ground-breaking documentary film on honor violence -- will premier tonight on DirecTV (Channel 239) at 8 pm EST.
The film addresses male-dominated
cultures where women and girls are treated like property, forced into
marriage and subjected to female genital mutilation. For the first-time
on film, an international group of women’s rights champions – some of
whom have been subjected to honor violence themselves -- break the
silence on honor violence.
Honor Diaries features an all-star cast of female human rights activists, including New York Times bestselling author, Ayaan
Hirsi Ali. Together, they courageously speak the truth that Western
society is often shy of hearing -- that culture is no excuse for abuse.
More than a movie, Honor Diaries aims
to become a movement to save women and girls around the world –
including in America -- from human rights abuses resulting from
honor-based societies.
