Three Acid Attacks, two Priests Murdered in Zanzibar

In just two months, three Catholic priests from the island of Zanzibar have reported being the victims of acid attacks.  Two Catholic priests have been shot in the past year and Catholic churches have also been set on fire.  
  • Pray for the full recovery of the Pastor who was attacked
  • Pray for the safety and protection of Christians living in Zanzibar
  • Pray for an end to the attacks 

Across Egypt, Piles of Ash Where Church Pews Once Stood

Though violence against Christians has hit most of Egypt, the city of Minya was hit the worst. Churches, orphanages, and essentially any building that had anything to do with Christianity were burned to the ground. There was a human rights lawyer fighting for the Christian community, but he and his family were threatened and had to stop his activities.
  • Pray for the successful rebuilding of the churches and orphanages
  • Pray for the safety and protection of Christians in Egypt 
  • Pray that God will raise up more human rights lawyers to fight on behalf of the Christian community

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Says to Christians: Convert to Islam, or Pay 'Jizya' Tax

The Muslim Brotherhood and its supporters have began forcing the roughly 15,000 Christian Copts of Dalga village in Egypt to pay a jizya tax to guarantee their "protection." author and translator Raymond Ibrahim reported on Sunday.  In some cases, families who could not pay the tax were attacked.

  • Pray against this form of persecution that takes advantage of the poor and vulnerable 
  • Pray for the protection and safety of the Christians persecuted
  • Pray for peace in Egypt

Afghanistan Parliamentarian Declares Christian Converts Should be Executed

Some of Afghanistan's parliamentarians have declared that converts to Christianity should be executed. Parliamentarian Nazir Ahmad Hanafi is leading this charge to stop the growth of Christianity and has blamed the presence of the United States in Afghanistan for the spread of Christianity among Afghans. 

  • Pray for the protection of these Christians as they may face increased persecution soon
  • Pray the parliamentarians would not pass this this law to execute Christian converts
  • Pray the parliamentarians would repent and come to know Jesus Christ
Imprisoned American Pastor Directly Appeals to Iranian President for Freedom

American Pastor Saeed Abedini has written a letter directly to the Iranian president appealing for him to consider his case and to call for his release. Saeed has been sentenced to eight years in prison as a result of his Christian faith. He was detained more than a year ago. September 26 will make one year in prison for Pastor Saeed. 

  • Pray for strength and courage for Pastor Saeed while he is being detained
  • Pray for the encouragement and provision for Saeed's family during this time
  • Pray that God would move on Pastor Saeed's behalf and he would be freed from unlawful imprisonment

Six Christians Killed by Muslim Extremists in Nigeria

Last week, six Christians living in a village outside of Nigeria's central city of Jos were killed by a group of Muslim extremists likely belonging to the ethnic Fulani herdsmen.  A Christian family whose house was close to the edge of the village was raided by gunmen and the entire family was slaughtered including a 7 year-old boy.

  • Pray for the peace of Christ in the midst of their suffering for the families who lost their loved ones
  • Pray for peace in Nigeria's central states
