Oh, NOES! French ‘Islamophobes’ accused of sending Weapons of Muslim Destruction (WMDs) to mosques. 

Police seem disinterested.

The Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France reports that a mosque in Alsace, was the victim of an Islamophobic ‘hate crime’ earlier this week. 

Exactly as happened at Meximieux last month, mosque officials were mailed an envelope containing ham. 

In the past, French police have refused to record these as Islamophobic hate crimes.

ABNA The CCIF adds that, as was also the case with the Meximieux mosque, this is not the first time that the Mulhouse mosque has been targeted in an act of hatred. About a year ago more than 70 nails were found along the front of the building where worshippers usually park their cars. When Daoui Hanafi, president of the mosque, attempted to file a complaint, the police refused to register it and only agreed to record a statement.

In this latest incident, on collecting the post from the mosque’s mailbox Mr Hanafi found a yellow envelope, stamped and addressed to the As-Salam mosque. Inside was a plastic bag containing the pork WMD. This time, he was able to file a complaint with the police. At Meximeux, by contrast, in identical circumstances, the police argued that no offence had been committed and refused to register a complaint.

In addition to being the target of repeated attacks, and both receiving a letter containing pork, there is a third common feature that connects these two mosques, namely that they have faced the reluctance of the authorites to take threats to their places of worship seriously. The CCIF asks whether French Muslims are to be treated as second class citizens, who are to be denied the recognition and protection due to any victim under the law.

Mosques in several regions of France received by mail envelopes containing pork. Some mosques, such as the one in Mulhouse, decided to lodge a complaint.

Below is a list of mosques that have been reported to have received pork packages. It is likely that other mosques also received the ham care packages, but complete statistics are not yet available. Police are probably too busy dealing with real crime.

1 - 2 February 2013 : A Meximieux, in Ain, an envelope containing ham was discovered in the mailbox of the place of worship. A week later, the mosque received a Islamophobic letter, reported in February the site progress .

2 - End of February 2013 : At Mulhouse, As-Salam mosque receives an envelope full of pork.

3 - 5 March 2013 : A Mulhouse, An-Nour Mosque in turn receives an envelope with ham inside.

4 - 7 March 2013 : The imam of the mosque of Brest Sunna said it had received an envelope containing pork.

5 - March 2013 : the mosque of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, near Nice, received an envelope with ham inside.

6 to 8 March 2013: the mosque run by the Muslim Association of the Alpes-Maritimes, Nice, receives an envelope with pork slices

7 to 16 March 2013: the same mosque, located 130 boulevard de la Madeleine in Nice again receives an envelope with pork inside.

8 - In March 2013, the mosque of the Fraternity, in Aubervilliers (93), received an envelope with pork.
