Christians Sentenced for Stealing Weapons in Egypt
A criminal court in Egypt sentenced two Coptic Christians to three
years in prison for stealing weapons from soldiers during a protest on
Oct. 9, 2011, The New York Times reports. The protest, known as the
‘Maspero Massacre,’ was the bloodiest day for Christians in Egypt’s
recent memory. Twenty-seven Christians were killed, having been shot by
the military or run over by armored vehicles. The military refused to
take responsibility, instead blaming protesters for causing the military
to “panic.” The military court acquitted its soldiers from charges
implicating them in the violence, and the only people who have been
convicted are these two Christians.
Pray these men would be released from prison.
Pray for religious freedom throughout Egypt.
Pray for the safety of all Christians in Egypt.

Vietnam Sentences More Activists to Prison, Christians Concerned
In recent months, Vietnam’s government has passed a new religion
law, demolished a historic monastery, and sentenced dozens of activists,
some of them Christians, to multiple years of imprisonment. This series
of events has led many of the country’s Christians to fear that Vietnam
is actually headed towards even greater persecution of religious
minorities in the future.
Pray innocent activists held in Vietnam’s prisons will be freed.
Pray for religious freedom throughout Vietnam.
Pray for the safety of Christians in Vietnam.

Mob in India Attempts to Lynch 12 Christian Tourists
When a Facebook picture went up accusing tourists of forcing
Muslims in Kashmir to convert to Christianity, it resulted in mob
violence. An angry crowd gathered outside their hotel, throwing rocks
and demanding the “immediate trial of foreigners, eight Americans and
four Koreans.” Luckily, the police intervened in time; however, this is
just one example of many that indicates the difficulty of being a
Christian in certain Indian states.
Pray for religious freedom throughout India.
Pray for the safety of Christians in India.
Pray for the Gospel to be spread throughout all of India.

China's Christians Thrive, Despite Increase in Persecution
A new report released this week tracking Christian persecution in
China reported a marked rise in arrests, harassment, and imprisonment of
Christians in China for the seventh year in a row. Despite this, or
perhaps partially as a result of it, Christianity has been growing at an
explosive rate throughout China. Unofficial estimates indicate there
may be as many as 130 million Christians living in China today.
Pray for the safety of Christians in China.
Pray the Gospel would continue to spread and that funding for Bibles to be sent to China will continue to be provided.
Pray the Holy
Spirit will continue to embolden China’s Christians and that they will
continue sharing the Gospel in spite of the imminent persecution that
follows.

Massacres of Christians by Islamic Extremists the "Norm" in Nigeria
With the violence in Nigeria, most of which is by Muslim extremists
against Christians, massacres of believers have become the norm. “If
you are thinking of a future world where the two religions, Christianity
and Islam, must accept one another and live in peace then we have
lessons to teach the rest of the world,” says Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
Many believe the violence, which began in 2009, may be linked to al
Qaeda. There have been raids on Christian homes, the demand of
conversion at the risk of death, and even the assassination of Muslim
clerics who denounce the violence.
Pray for peace in Nigeria.
Pray the attacks by Muslim extremists are brought to a halt.
Pray the Gospel is spread throughout Nigeria.

Religious Freedom revealed that three pastors in Savannakhet province

Laos continue to face regular persecution at the hands of hostile
Communist officials.
Pray for the release of these three pastors.
Pray for religious freedom in Laos.
Pray the Gospel is spread in Laos in spite of the government’s attempts to control it.
