06/04/2010 UK (CBN News) UK Preacher Jailed for Sharing His Faith- On April 20, 2010, Dale McAlpine began preaching the Gospel through the streets of Cumbria. But halfway through his sermon, Dale was arrested and forced to spend the night in jail. According to an officer, Dale was speaking out against homosexuality. But Dale attests that he was only preaching against drunkenness, adultery, and blasphemy. "I was shocked that I was taken off the street. I didn't expect to be taken to a prison cell that day. I went out to preach the Gospel and I was shocked that I found myself in a cell and my freedom taken away from me. Yet I had a wonderful peace from the Lord and I had my Bible," said Dale. 06/03/2010 Afghanistan (Baptist Press) Afghan Lawmaker Calls for Death of Converts- Afghanistan's constitution, which is based on sharia law, states that converting from Islam to another religion is punishable by death. Thus when Noorin TV showed video clips of Westerners baptizing Afghans, slews of Afghan citizens cried out for the death penalty--including Afghani parliamentary officials. When more raw footage came out showing Afghan citizens praying to Jesus, Church World Service and Norwegian Church Aid were asked to leave the country. Full Story Pray that the Lord will place a "huge" hedge of protection around Afghanistan's Christian citizens. Pray that Church World Service and Norwegian Church Aid will be asked to return to Afghanistan. ![]() 06/04/2010 Turkey (BosNewsLife) Turkish Man Charged in Murder Bishop- Praise the Lord that justice has been served. On June 4, 2010, Murat A., was charged with the murder of Turkish Bishop, Luigi Padovese. Murat A., the Bishop's trusted driver and handyman, mercilessly stabbed his employer of four years while the Bishop was resting at his summer house in Iskenderun. Bishop Padovese died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The murder of Bishop Padovese comes on the heels of a series of violent attacks against Turkey's Christian population. Full Story. Pray for the friends and family of Bishop Luigi Padovese as they mourn the loss of their brother in Christ. Pray that Murat A. will seek and find Jesus Christ. ![]() 06/08/2010 Nigeria (MNN) Muslim Youth Attack Churches and House- Reports coming out of Nigeria describe the turmoil that is taking place in this country as "sectarian violence." Yet, the proper phrases to use would be "religious persecution" or anti-Christian violence." In May 2010, at least 100 Muslim youths stormed onto church property, attacked people, and burned down buildings--including a pastor's home. Unfortunately, this attack was not "front page news" because nobody was killed. Full Story. Pray for the Nigerian Christians who lost their homes and livelihoods in this recent attack. Pray that the Lord will change the hearts of Nigeria's Muslims. Pray that the Nigerian government will put an immediate halt to anti-Christian violence in this tumultuous country. 06/08/2010 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) Pakistani Muslims Assault Pastor, His Pregnant Wife- On June 3, 2010, Imam Maqsood Ahmed and fourteen other radical Muslims decided to wreak havoc upon the lives of three Pakistani Christians. For no apparent reason, Imam Maqsood and his gang viciously attacked Pastor Masih, his pregnant wife, and his brother. Although complaints were made to local police, no actions have been taken against the perpetrators. Full StoryPray that Imam Maqsood will be arrested and jailed for his acts of violent persecution. 06/08/2010 Pakistan (International Christian Concern) Muslim Employer Holds Pakistani Christian Family Captive for a Year- Asghar Masih could not believe he was finally free! But his freedom was bittersweet--his family was still being held captive. Asghar, his wife, and their three children had been held hostage by their employer, Muhammad Nawaz, for an entire year. During this time, Nawaz repeatedly raped Asghar's wife and eldest daughter. To keep them from escaping, Nawaz tortured and chained Asghar and his family to the wall. Pakistani authorities took one look at the marks around Asghar's wrists, and immediately raided Nawaz's place of business. Praise the Lord, Asghar's wife and three children were found and set free.
