Incompatible with Western Civilisation

Yesterday’s tragic shooting on an American army base by a Muslim born in that country echoes the attack on Glasgow airport in 2007 by a Muslim born in Britain — and highlights the incompatibility of Islam and Western society.

The fact that Islamists involved in both these terrorist outrages were born in their host countries illustrates the suicidal idea that Islamists in Western nations will adhere to the norms and values of our society.

In yesterday’s attack, the Muslim American army major Nidal Malik Hasan repeatedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” before starting his shooting rampage inside the Fort Hood military base. He killed 13 people and wounded 31 before being shot by a police officer.

According to news reports, Major Hasan was born in Arlington, Virginia, but listed his nationality as Palestinian on a form filled out by those seeking spouses through a programme at a mosque he attended.

FBI officials told Associated Press that Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of his web postings, which discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

One of the web posts that authorities reviewed was a blog that equated suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades. “To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. It’s more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause,” said the post. “Scholars have paralled [sic] this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers.”

Bilal Talal Samad Abdullah was convicted of conspiracy to murder in connection with the Glasgow airport attack. The driver of the vehicle which was rammed into the terminal building, Kafeel Ahmed, was a Muslim born in India who had immigrated to Britain.

Others arrested along with Mr Abdullah and Mr Ahmed (who later died of third degree burns) included Muslims from Jordan, India and Lebanon. Abdullah was known by others as an intensely militant Muslim at the University of Cambridge. His status at the university is unclear, but records show he graduated in Baghdad in 2004.

The choice facing all Western nations is clear: either they will continue to allow the Islamic colonisation of their countries, or they will act decisively to halt the invasion now.
