NOS AMIS ANGLAIS
Season’s Greetings!
Posted on December 29, 2011,In modern Britain Christmas is, above all else, a time for families; when we set aside precious hours to enjoy the company of our nearest and dearest.
For Christians, it is a time in which to celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, and a time of peace and of particular goodwill to all men, women and children.
The birth of the Christian Saviour may not unite the people of Britain as it once did, but the message of peace that his example embodied still has the power to instil in the Christmas period a truly unique feeling of optimism for the year to come.
There will always be a Scrooge at Christmas, but this should not detract from the incredible unity that the festive period can inspire.
We hope that everyone has enjoyed a Merry Christmas, and wish you all a Happy New Year.
In 2011 we’ve seen the EDL continue to grow in strength, in popularity, and in influence. There is much still to do, but change is afoot in British politics, and so there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
Islam is still plagued with largely uncontested and under-exposed difficulties: from the hate preachers who continue to be given free rein in British mosques, to the government-incubated culture of separatism and supremacism that prevents British Muslims from effectively combatting the extremism that thrives within their midst.
Demographic changes – often unwanted – continue to change the face of Britain, whilst even the most mild-mannered and fair-minded criticism continues to be written off as racism or bigotry.
Despite successful efforts to ensure a long series of trouble-free demonstrations, we’ve faced draconian restrictions on our right to peacefully protest. There have been other insults and even attacks along the way, but despite the ill-treatment of our supporters and the misrepresentation of our cause, every setback has encouraged us to continue the campaign against creeping Sharia and the other numerous forms of Islamic extremism.
The EDL depends on a great many people, and as we look forwards to 2012 it would be amiss not to extend to all of our supporters the thanks of Tommy, Kev, the remainder of the EDL leadership team, and everyone in the EDL Support Group.
Thank you, and remember, England is for life – not just for Christmas.
No surrender.
