11/26/2010 Pakistan (CDN) Pakistan Christian Convicted of 'Blasphemy' Stoned in Prison- An assault by Muslim inmates in Pakistan nearly killed a 19-year-old Christian incarcerated on false charges of blasphemy on October 29th. The father of Imran Masih reported that his son was stoned in prison by Muslims yelling that he was a blasphemer. Though Imran remains in District Hospital Hazro in "very serious condition," he is expected to be released from the hospital next week. Full Story

 11/24/2010 Pakistan (ICC) Conflicting Stories on Asia's Bibi's Release- International Christian Concern issued a press release on November 22 entitled "Pakistan Releases Christian Woman Sentenced to Death for Blasphemy." Since the issuance of the press release, we have received conflicting stories about Asia Bibi. Some of our sources still insist that Asia has been released. However, Pakistani officials denied that they have released Bibi. The officials have publicly spoken about her possible pardon. Pakistan's Minister for Minority Affairs, Shahbaz Bhatti, said that Bibi is innocent. Full Story. Pray for comfort for Asia's family as they go through this trying time. 11/24/2010 India (ICC) Hindu Radicals Attack Christians as Police Watch- International Christian Concern has learned that on November 7, Hindu radicals stormed three villages in Orissa and assaulted Christians. The attackers claimed that they were teased by Christian boys. The victims told ICC that they were attacked for refusing to pay donations for a Hindu festival called 'Druga Festival.' Around 250 radical Hindus stormed the villages of Peliguda, Kenduguda and Telarai near the town of Malkangiri. They broke into Christian homes after the Christians refused entry. The police were present at the scene but refused to protect the Christians. Full Story Pray that the Father would continue to increase the church in India in depth and breadth.  11/22/2010 Afghanistan (ICC) Trial Nears for Afghan Christian's Conversion- International Christian Concern has learned that an Afghan convert to Christianity is scheduled to appear in court without legal representation. If charged with apostasy, a 'crime' not referenced in the Afghan penal code, the judge may use Shariah (Islamic) law to reach a verdict. Sayed Mossa was arrested on May 31 after footage was nationally televised of Muslim converts to Christianity being baptized. The broadcast triggered protests throughout the country and a national government crackdown against Christians. While no formal charges have been announced, friends of Mossa anticipate that he will be tried for apostasy, a capital offence which may warrant the death sentence. Full Story. Pray for the protection of Christians in Afghanistan who have been endangered as a result of the televised broadcasts of baptisms. |

11/22/2010 Iraq (AFP) Christian Brothers Shot Dead in Northern Iraq- Militants killed two Christian brothers inside their vehicle workshop in Mosul on Monday in the latest attack targeting Christians which have left more than 60 dead in the past month. The AFP reported that "between 800,000 and 1.2 million Christians lived in Iraq before the US-led invasion of 2003, but that number has since shrunk to around 500,000 in the face of repeated attacks against their community and churches." Full Story Pray that the increasing violence towards Christians will subside soon so the Iraqi Christian community can live and practice their faith without fear of death or violence. Pray that the Christian community in Iraq will not be persuaded from the greatness of Jesus Christ due to the threat of violence. Pray for the comfort, peace, and encouragement of these brothers and sisters as they deal with significant losses in their fellowships. |

 11/18/2010 China (ChinaAid) Even Officially Registered Churches in China are Under Attack- Even after registering with the government, Baixiang Christian Church in China is under persecution from the authorities. This year, the church has experienced "one disaster after another" and is constantly under the threat of violence that has left them "unable to hold a single normal and peaceful Sunday service." Pray that the Father would continue to multiply the church in China. Pray that the Father would frustrate the efforts of the police to harass and persecute the Baixiang Church. |

11/18/2010 Vietnam (MontagnardFoundation) Eighty-year-old Degar Woman Persecuted in Vietnam- An 80-year-old Christian Degar woman, Ms. Ksor, has been attacked multiple times by Vietnamese police. In 2001, she was arrested and tortured by police who broke three of her ribs. She was arrested and tortured by police who broke three of her ribs. She was arrested and tortured again in 2004 after a peaceful protest against the treatment of the Degar people. She was reportedly shot with an electrical gun and saved only by the intervention of her sons. This year, on October 29th, government officials from the province of Dak Lak entered her home and commanded her to denounce her son, his actions, and the actions of all the Degar people. When she responded by saying she didn't know what her son was doing, they harassed and bullied her. Her son, Kok Ksor, speaks out against the mistreatment of the Degar people by the Vietnamese government. Full Story. Pray that justice will be served in response to these horrific beatings. Pray for the swift recovery of Ms. Ksor. Pray that the hatred by the Vietnamese government towards Jesus and His followers will be shaken by unconditional love by Christians in Vietnam. |
