6/30/2010 Vietnam (MontagnardFoundation) Three Montagnard Christians Tortured & Imprisoned-- Vietnamese security forces arrested three Degar Christians and interrogated them about their beliefs and a peaceful prayer vigil that took place in 2006. When the three men refused to sign documents to recant Christianity, they were beaten with wooden sticks to the point of unconsciousness. Their whereabouts are still unknown. Full Story
Pray that the three men would be located and released.

for God to strengthen the men physically and spiritually.

for the Degar community to be strengthened and courageous.

7/2/2010 Nigeria (Yahoo News) Sect Leader Threatens Retaliation-- A leader of a radical Muslim sect in Nigeria allegedly issued a videotape calling for more violence. The video was released leading up to the one-year anniversary of a rampage by the radical Boko Haram sect that killed over 700 Nigerians. Rumors that the sect has been rearming have spread in northern Nigeria. Hundreds have already died this year in Christian-Muslim conflicts. Full Story

7/2/2010 India (Christianity Today) Religious Minorities Targeted by Growing Radical Groups: Report-- Christians in south Asia, particularly in India, face increasing threats from extremist groups. Some goverments actually support these extremist groups, while others are indifferent to their actions. The lower classes, such as Dalits, face the greatest threat, often being subjected forced conversion to Hinduism. Full Story.

7/1/2010 India (ANS) Man's New Faith Sends Brother Into Murderous Rage-- When Talat Sarin professed his belief in Jesus Christ, his younger brother Vanhi attacked him with a knife. He accused Talat of polluting the region by choosing a foreign faith and lunged at his brother, aiming for his neck. Talat's left arm was injured, but he survived the ordeal and was rushed to a local hospital. Full Story.
Pray for God to work in Vanhi's heart for salvation.
Pray for healing for Talat Sarin.
Pray that Talat will be strengthened in his new faith.

7/1/2010 India (CDN) Recent Incidents of Persecution in India-- Hindu extremists have disrupted church services and incited violence in many Indian states in the past month. Many Christians, especially pastors, have been beaten and accused of forceful conversion. As a result of the conflict, a church in Tamil Nadu was forced to move its meeting location, and an orphanage in Kanataka was forced to close down. Full Story

7/1/2010 Indonesia (UCAN) Anger Grows Over Rise of Hardline Muslim Group-- The Islamic Defender's Front is a group linked with anti-Christian violence across Indonesia, also engaging in aggressive Islamic initiatives such as militia training programs. Civil and religious leaders have called on the government to ban the group, citing the threat it poses to religious and expressive freedom. Full Story
Pray for the government to be attentive to the outcry.

Article Seven
7/1/2010 China (ChinaAid) Chinese County Officers Threaten Christian Elders-- Public Security Bureau officials of Yucheng County threatened elderly Christians in their homes, accusing the Christians of being cult followers and trying to force them to give up their house church. In March 2010, the same bureau arrested believers and held them until their families paid living expenses. When four of the prisoners affirmed faith in Christ, they were sentenced to a year of re-education through labor. Full Story
