11/4/11 Ethiopia (ICC) Ethiopian Government: Radical Wahhabi Muslims Seeking to Turn Ethiopia into an Islamist State-
In a recent press conference, the Ethiopian government expressed its concern over the growing violence against moderate Muslims and Christians by radical Wahhabi Muslims. The government also announced discovering plans by the Wahhabi Muslims to turn Ethiopia into an Islamic country governed by Sharia law.

“We have found evidences and pamphlets [which] were publicly distributed during the month of Ramadan calling on the Muslim community to stand up against all non-Wahhabi Muslims and followers of other religions,” said Mersessa Reda, the Director General at the Ministry of Federal Affairs of Ethiopia, in a statement quoted by The New Business Ethiopia in early October. Pray for protection and courage for Christians living in Muslim-dominated areas of Ethiopia.
Pray that the Father would frustrate every plan of the Wahhabi Muslims to turn Ethiopia into an Islamist state which would persecute Christians.
11/4/11 Nigeria (BBC) Gunmen Kill Churchgoers in Nigeria -

Gunmen killed at least two Christians while they were attending a church service in Nigeria's Kaduna state. The attack took place in northern Nigeria where Christians have been facing persecution at the hands of the Muslim majority in the area. Eleven others were wounded in the attack that occurred overnight while Christians were conducting an all night prayer vigil. Some of the wounded are in critical condition and in desperate need of your prayers. Full Story

Pray for the families of the two Christians who were killed in Kaduna state.
11/3/11 United States (WashingtonPost) Should Students Share Their Faith in School? -
Last December, a 5th grade girl in Pennsylvania was stopped when she tried to hand out invitations to a church Christmas party at her school. A federal judge has recently decided that this was unlawful, however cases of this nature continue to plague the public school system. In Plano, Texas, a student was prohibited from passing out candy canes with religious messages at a class party. In Baldwinsville, New York, school administrators folded a child's environmental poster to hide a picture of Jesus he drew in the corner. Both cases cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars as the school district spent years in court, fearing they might be seen as "endorsing" religion. Full Story

Pray that the Father would strengthen and empower young people in the United States to share their faith in increasing measure.
Pray that the American courts would ensure that the rights of students are protected and that religious freedom in upheld in the country.
11/1/11 Algeria (ICC) Six Christians Arrested in Eastern Algeria -

Six Algerian Christians were arrested in El Tarf on Saturday for worshipping in an unregistered location. Five remain in prison on charges of proselytizing and blasphemy after appearing in court on Sunday.

On October 29, the six Algerian Christians were arrested before their morning prayer service in an apartment not authorized as a legal place of worship, the independent daily El Watan reported. The arrests occurred in a village near Bougous, located in the north-eastern province of El Tarf which borders Tunisia. The next day, the Criminal Court of El Tarf held five of the six Christians in custody for proselytizing, unauthorized worship, and insulting Islam, according to Algérie Plus. The sixth Christian, a minor, was released and placed on probation. Local congregants expect a trial to take place in the coming days. Full Story

Pray that the five Christians still in prison will be released and that the government of Algeria will cease persecuting Christians.
Pray that the Algerian courts will acquit Siagh Krimo, another Algeria Christian accused of blasphemy (see full story), of all blasphemy charges.
10/31/11 Iraq (ICC) Remembering Iraq's Displaced Christians One Year After Baghdad Church Massacre -

Today marks the anniversary of last year’s four-hour siege on a Syriac Catholic church in Baghdad that ended with al-Qaida linked militants massacring 58 worshippers. The attack was the worst against Iraqi Christians since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 and enticed many of the already dwindling Christian population in Baghdad to leave the city permanently.

“We've had enough now. Leaving Iraq has become a must,” Jamal Habo Korges, a Christian mechanic and father of three, told the United Nation’s humanitarian news outlet IRIN. “We've been suffering since 2003 and we can't take it anymore. The latest carnage is the final warning.” Full Story

Pray for that the Father would strengthen His people in Iraq and ensure that a remnant remains to advance the true gospel of the kingdom in Iraq.
Pray for the continued comfort of the families of the 58 worshippers who were killed in the attack on the Baghdad church last year.
10/25/11 Ethiopia (ICC) Three Christian Prisoners Released from Prison in Ethiopia -

We are very excited to inform you that on October 25, three Christian prisoners were released from prison in Ethiopia after an ICC staff member (who is a native of Ethiopia) called the Muslim police officials and reminded them that they were violating the law for arresting the Christians for preaching the gospel.

The three Christians (one of whom is a former Muslim leader) were arrested on October 15 for preaching the gospel to Muslims. Even while they were in prison, the Christians continued to share their faith. As a result of their testimony in prison, two people came to Christ and others were healed from sickness after the Christians prayed for them.

The government officials panicked and released them after receiving the call from ICC. A Muslim police official confronted the Christians and asked them, “How do you have people in the US who asked us to release you?” Though the three are now free, Muslim authorities are threatening to bring criminal charges against the former Muslim leader. Full Story

Praise God for the release of the three Christian prisoners and for the lives they changed while they were still in prison.
Pray specifically for the safety of the former Muslim leader as authorities are already threatening to bring criminal charges against him.
