10/28/11 Egypt (ICC) 'Hard Pressed, But Not Crushed' - A Courageous Woman Tells of Her Fiance's Death on Egypt's 'Bloody Sunday' -
After a long march from Shubra, Viviane Magdi and her fiancé Michael Mosad finally reached their destination at the State TV building in Maspero near Tahrir Square in Cairo where a mass crowd of demonstrators – both Christian and Muslim – had gathered. Upon arrival, however, the protest that Michael and Viviane had joined took an unexpected turn. Above the chants for freedom and an end to military rule, the couple could hear screams and the crackle of gun fire rising from among the demonstrators into the evening air.

A moment later, a military vehicle veered into the crowded street at a speed fast enough to bring imminent danger to anyone standing in its path. “He held my hand and said, ‘Don’t let me go, stay with me, don’t be scared.’ Then suddenly, I felt myself pushed away,” Viviane remembers.

Looking behind her, she saw Michael swept under the truck and crushed beneath its tires. Michael was one of 26 Christians killed on the evening protestors quickly dubbed, ‘Bloody Sunday.’ Full Story

10/28/11 Pakistan (ICC) Prayer Alert -

We’re asking for urgent prayer on behalf of Ruqqiya Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for “defiling the Qur’an” by touching it with unwashed hands. After eight months in prison, she is now applying to be freed on bail. A court is scheduled to conduct a bail hearing for Ruqqiya on November 10, 2011.

We are hopeful that her appeal will be granted — her husband, Munir, who was also imprisoned for the same crime, was released on bail in December of last year. Full Story

Pray for the judge to grant the bail to Ruqqiya during the hearing on November 10.
Pray the safety of Munir Masih. Though he has been freed on bail, he still faces vigilante attacks at the hands of radical Muslims.
Pray for the children of Ruqqiya and Munir to be comforted and strengthened by God as they witness the injustice suffered by their parents.
10/26/11 Sudan (ChristianityToday) Anti-Christian Backlash After South Sudan Secession -

An estimated 1 million Christians still living in north Sudan after the south's secession are living in fear as the northern government is making calls for a Sudan based on Islamic law. Christians have been attacked by Muslim residents as they attempted to finish constructing their church near Khartoum. Meanwhile, local authorities are threatening to demolish three other churches. Some Christian leaders have credited the death of a number of civilians to efforts to rid the north of Christianity, saying, "I saw them take my fellow Christian brothers and shoot them in the forest near the place where we were detained. ... I was praying despite the fact they were threatening me that I would face the same fate of the six brothers." Full Story

Pray for the protection of the estimated 1 million Christians still living in north Sudan.
Pray for the courage and faith of the Christians in Sudan.
10/28/11 United Kingdom (News Letter) Challenge to UK on 'Aid Bias Against Christians' -

Britain is being challenged on why it is cutting aid to countries which persecute gay people, but still giving millions to countries which are killing Christians. UK Aid was cut to Malawai over the treatment of two gay men, but "absolutely no action was taken against aid provided to Zimbabwe, which currently receives 69 million pounds of aid despite the systematic persecution of Christians there. The Ulster MP pointed out that in the African countries who are receiving millions of pounds of UK aid, the persecution of Christians "goes beyond the repression of their religious belief, but extends to the often violent destruction of churches and other property as well as attacks on the people themselves." Full Story

Pray that the challenge provided by the Ulster MP would serve as a wake up call to the UK and the rest of the Western world.
Pray that persecuted Christians around the world would be afforded the same rights as human beings everywhere.
