9/29/2010 Ethiopia (ICC) Ethiopian Muslims Burn Down Christian Homes, Farms-
International Christian Concern (ICC) learned that on July 15th, 80 Christians were left homeless in Jimma, Ethiopia where 25 Muslim attackers led by a local government militia set fire to Christians' homes and barns, killing their animals and destroying their harvest. The mob requested that the families leave their homes and then threatened to burn them like they had burned their property if they told anyone about what had been done.

All eighty victims were held in the village for sixteen days, until one of the Christians escaped and reported the attacks to district officials. The police arrested the person who led the attack, but they were later released on bail. The Muslims in Jimma have traditionally prevented Christians from building churches and cemeteries; now they are further forbidding these families from rebuilding their homes. The displaced Christians in Jimma are currently seeking shelter under trees. Full Story.

Praise God that He is our (their) refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1)
Pray that the light of Jesus would shine forth in Jimma, that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11)
Pray for the families and for the Ethiopian government to administer justice and protection

9/27/2010 China (ChinaAid) Church Members Attacked in Changchunli, China-
Church members, including sixteen injured elderly people and women, were attacked by 200 youth dressed in police uniforms at the construction site of their church in Shandong, China on September 23, 2010. One elderly victim was left blind in one eye. One of the church members made an emergency call to the police, but they did not respond urgently nor assist the believers other than discussing the incident with the land developers onsite.

Later that day, 300 believers protested and petitioned the authorites to intervene in this latest incident, as church members have suffered in several conflicts over the past two years regarding this church site. The Ji'nan Municipal Bureau for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Shandong told Changchunli members that the land was designated for another use so the church members set up tents on the land, refusing to leave. There has been much conflict as church members have been threatened by force to leave, with little government help or protection. Full Story.

9/23/2010 India (SperoNews) Christians in India Targeted for Sex Trafficking-
Young Christian girls, many orphaned and without family to protect them, are being targeted for sex-trafficking in the Orissa region in India. After incidents of violence against Christians in 2008, many young women in Orissa have been left orphans, refugees and in poverty. The Church tries to provide help for these young women, with shelter, schooling, etc., but because they don't have families to protect them they are more vulnerable to predators and smugglers who would want to use them for sex trafficking.

Other parts of India are seeing a rise in targeting Christian young women for sex trafficking as well. In the district of Khandamal, several girls have disappeared.

Government authorities and local police have also been involved in attempts to rescue girls from trafficking gangs. Full Story

Praise God that the local Churches and government officials are working to rescue these girls
