News and Prayer for the Persecuted

7/26/10 Russia (MNN) Dagestan Church Lays Their Pastor To Rest
Pastor Artur Suleimanov was gunned down outside of his own church on July 15, 2010. Why? Who would want to kill Pastor Suleimanov? Although arrests have yet to be made, it is presumed that radical Muslims murdered Pastor Suleimanov. This assumption is based on the fact that Pastor Suleimanov is a former Muslim who lives in a region that is 98% Muslim. Furthermore, it has been reported that throughout his ministry, Pastor Suleimanov received death threats from a slew of Islamic fundamentalists. Full Story
Pray for Pastor Artur Suleimanov's friends and family members as they mourn the death of their loved one.
Pray
that arrests will be made in the death of Pastor Suleimanov.
Pray
for Pastor Suleimanov's assistant pastor, Vladimir Chumakov, as he transitions to the role of senior pastor.

7/26/10 Pakistan (CDN) Christian Nursing Student Nearly Dies From Assault in Pakistan
The atrocities that happened to Magdalene Ashraf, a Pakistani Christian nursing student, are almost too horrible to believe. Her story of Christian persecution unfolds like the pages of a haunting novel. Magdalene Ashraf was unconscious for 56 hours after being gang-raped and thrown from a hospital's fourth floor window. Magdalene was left for dead by a group of Muslim men led by Dr. Abdul Jabbar Meammon, a doctor at the hospital where Magdalene was training. Meammon has a history of sexually harassing female students at the hospital. And although Meammon is being cited for attempted murder, Christian organizations are urging police to file gang-rape charges. Full Story
Pray that Magdalene Ashraf fully recovers both mentally and physically.
Pray
that Dr. Abdul Jabbar Meammom is stripped of his title and is charged with both attempted murder and rape.
Pray
that Pakistani hospitals will take great measures to protect their Christian employees and students.
7/22/10 Iran (MNN) Believers in Iran Risk Their Lives to Give Bibles
If you live in a religiously free country, like America for example, the thought of being killed for evangelizing most likely never crosses your mind. This is not the case in Iran. In Iran, the punishment is death for believers who decide to evangelize or pass out Bibles in this fundamentally Muslim country. Yet members of a Christian group known as Vision Beyond Borders are willing to risk their lives in order to get God's Word into nonbelievers' hands. Threats of death, torture, and imprisonment do not stop these faithful Christians from fulfilling the Great Commission. If only we could be so bold. Full Story
Pray for the members of Vision Beyond Borders as they risk their lives to spread God's Word.
Pray that the nonbelievers who receive Bibles will be saved.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will fill Iran and allow the Gospel to be spread without incident.
7/20/10 Indonesia (AsiaNews) Christians in Bekasi Forced to Celebrate In the Open Air Under Police Protection
The fact that Indonesia's constitution guarantees freedom of religion has done nothing to stop radical Muslims from persecuting innocent Christians. One Christian community in particular, the HKBP community (Huria Kristen Batak Protestan), has been the target of Islamic extremists for years. Members of HKBP have had their churches shut down and their Sunday services are constantly being disrupted. Thus, last Sunday, decided to celebrate mass under police protection. Full Story
Pray that Indonesia's radical Muslims will stop persecuting members of the HKBP Christian community.
Pray that the Indonesian government will start searching for and arresting Christian persecutors.
Pray for all of the Christians who live in Indonesia, the country with the greatest number of Muslims in the world.
7/20/10 Iran (ANS) Iranian Christian Church Worker Held Prisoner For Possessing A Bible
On April 20, 2010, Ali Golchin was arrested and thrown into Iran's infamous Evin prison. But what was his crime? Ali Golchin, an Iranian Christian, was arrested for having a Bible in his home. That was enough to sentence him to Iran's most notorious prison. And for the past two months, this faithful believer has been holed up in solitary confinement. Full Story
Pray for the immediate release of Ali Golchin.
Pray that Iranian Christians will be able to keep Bibles in their homes without fear of being arrested.
Pray that the Holy Spirit completely engulfs this predominantly Muslim country.
7/27/10 Pakistan (MNN) TV Announces Arrest In The Pakistan Brothers Murder Case
Has justice finally been served? Have the individuals suspected of gunning down two Christian brothers at a Pakistani courthouse finally been caught? Let's hope so. Last week, Rashid and Sajid Emmanuel were killed after accusations of Islamic blasphemy were dropped against them. At first no arrests were made, but now a Pakistani television station is reporting that an arrest has been made in the murder of these two Christian brothers. Although the murder of Rashid and Sajid Emmanuel is indescribably sad, it has helped to shed light on Iran's irrational blasphemy law. According to Iranian Christians, it is way too easy for Muslims to falsely accuse Christians of blasphemy. Something has to be done. Full Story
Pray for the family and friends of Rashid and Sajid Emmanuel as they mourn the deaths of their loved ones.
Pray that Rashid and Sajid's murderers will be convicted and thrown into prison.
Pray that Iran's blasphemy law will become null and void.
7/28/10 Burma (AsiaNews) Burma Troops Shell Christian Village
On July 23, 2010, Burmese Christians living in Tha Dah Der screamed as their homes, schools, and churches were set on fire by soldiers from the Burmese army. These same villagers, at least 600 of them, fled into the jungle as the Burmese army began to advance. As the Tha Dah Der villagers fled, they were joined by citizens of neighboring villages--villages that were also being attacked by the Burmese army. Full Story
Pray for the safety of all the Burmese Christians who were forced to flee into the jungle.
Pray that all of the Christian villages that were destroyed will be rebuilt.
Pray that the Burmese government will stop using its army to persecute Christians.
