Afghanistan: An Important Front in the Battle against Radical Islam

The following video, by American film-maker Evan Mark, should serve as a vital reminder of the efforts our service men and women are making to free the people of Afghanistan from the grip of religious extremism.

Whatever you think of the political decision to go to war, our soldiers deserve our respect and admiration for the difficult job they do, and for the sacrifices that they are often forced to make.

The Taliban, as this film recounts, practice a particularly oppressive and barbaric form of Sharia Law; including the stoning of women, the cutting off of hands, and the execution of homosexuals.

But there are still those who, either out of genuine ignorance or because of the intention to deceive, would have us believe that Islam did away with these hideous practices centuries ago.

Ignoring the problem helps no one, except those who are happy for it to continue. And the same thing is true of Islamic extremism more generally.

This video serves as a reminder of what it is our soldiers are up against, and helps to demonstrate why Sharia supporters in the UK so often refuse to talk about the example set by the Taliban, or by other oppressive Sharia-driven regimes: Sharia is, quite simply, the hallmark of radical Islam.
